I had my hair dyed today at the salon. My roots (about 2, 3 inches) were black and the rest of my hair was a coppery brown with different highlights of light brown and blonde at the tips because of sun damage. I asked for a golden brown-ish color. I showed my stylist pictures of Jennifer Lopez, Jessica Alba and even Giselle Bundchen. She brought over color samples and I choose a color that was a very light brown with a yellow undertone (almost a dark blone) but I asked for it to be maybe a shade or two darker since I'm Asian. Well I feel that even though I told my stylist over and over again that I HATE the brassy, red/copper color that I get - it's still reddish! It's brown but I feel like it's more red brown than golden brown. What do I do!? I was expecting something more with a yellow undertone than this....
Reddish, coppery brown hair that I can't get rid of no matter how I dye it.?
sorry, but the natural undertones to asian hair is extra red so if you lighten it a little you get red ,lighten it a bit more you get copper more and you get gold ,but then the colour will be too light and you will get hideous roots . id have it lightened with te most ash colour they can find , then put an ash toner over the top and use an ash or violet shampoo and a ash violet moose to style it(because the naturalred wil keep coming through ) then you might get the result you want .

There are some Miss Clairol shades that you can buy at Sally Beauty Supply called "Brass Busters." They were specifically formulated to cut out the brassiness. Visit a local Sally Beauty and you can see the swatches on shelf and pick the color that will tone out your brassiness.

She most likely did not tone it.
Because your hair is naturally black, it has orange/red undertones to it. So, even if you bleach it, it won't come out blonde, but, rather, a red orange.
I suggest going to a different stylist. She'll most likely offer to strip the color and rebleach it- in a few weeks time so as not to further stress your hair and cause it to leave you.
If you do go along with the re-bleaching, make sure she tones it with a blue toner. This nullifies that orangey color. Then she should put in the brown.
