My mom thinks that black hair can be referred to brunette hair. And I was like "No mom, brown hair is called brunette hair." And she was like "No, when a person with black hair walks down the street you would say that girl has brunette hair." I said "No you would say she has black hair. It's it's seperate catagory." She said "No, there are only Brunettes, redheads and blondes." I said "No! Brunette, black, redhead, and blonde!"

Sweetie, brown IS brown and black IS black, but the term "brunette" refers to EITHER black OR brown. It's ALWAYS been that way. Say black, if you mean black and brown if you mean brown... but brunette if you mean either black or brown.

You're right. There is black hair, red hair, brunette, and blonde. Those are the main categories but people don't really advertise black hair as much for example on buddy icons there not going to say, I like to party because I'm a black hair and those icons that have the color and the name could be a misinterpratation.

Your mom. Technically no-one has naturally jet black hair. It is actually very very dark brown that looks black. Unless of course you die it jet black. But natural hair color is only Browns, Reds and Blondes.

I have heard it said that there is no such thing as truly "black" hair, just extremely dark brown hair. If you were to bleach someone's hair that looked black, it would turn out orange, showing a great deal of red coloring in the original hair, like brown, so it can't actually be black, can it? There is an actual pigment to the hair, just like skin.......there are people with dark skin, but no one is truly "black-black". I think you'll find that very few things in life are truly "black", simply a very dark blue, brown, or green. Check out art sometime......they almost never use true black, even for shadows.
