Brown Hair-Black Hair??

I have dark brown hair, and I am 13 years old. It is almost black, but not quite. I want to dye it black, because I think my color hair is hideous! All of the other girls in my grade have dyed/highlighted their hair. I havent asked my mom yet, but I think she will say no.... what to do?

Brown Hair-Black Hair??

ahh, ok girly.

ive had this problem.

if you really are unhappy with your hair color then change it, but eventually you are not going to like that color and you are going to want to go back to the original color! if your mom says no, respect that because she probably knows what she is talking about. i doubt that your hair is really that bad if it is real similar to the color you want it to be!

p.s thanks for the help! yes i am a girl so i changed the name me to sweetheart--xo.! lolol! hope i helped youuuu!

ask for something that will wash out in a couple of shampoo's first.Maybe your mom will like it and let you get something more permanent.

I would just confront her about it. Tell her how you feel about it and ask if you can do anything. If your mom is anything like mine, she'll say that permanent anything is out of the question. If this happens, mention the rinses that can be bought at the supermarket for around $7. Clairol and Lor'eal are just two of the many companies that make them. There is a plethora of colors to choose from, and the best part - the color gradually washes out within 28 washes. This is an inexpensive, simple, and successful way of coloring your hair and "keeping it real". And, if the rinse goes well, you could potentially find a color you enjoy and can keep it in mind for when you ask to permanently dye it in the future.

OK...first, ask your mom. or just get a temporary hair dye-er and use that. but you don't have to die your hair......maybe just get new hair styles, or put it up once in a while.

Ask for a semi-permanent color (lasts 8-12 shampoos). Say you just want to see how the color looks. Tell that way you can both choose without making such a heavy commitment. It washes out in as little as a week to a month (depending on how often you wash your hair). It might make her feel more comfortable.

Ooooh, theres a BIG difference beween dark brown and black, especially when you try to get the black out. It won't fade peacefully either.

Just do a couple of chunks around your face, or maybe some of the ends.

If you're really determined to try the black, use a semi-permanant color. It will still grab, but won't be as bad.

Maybe you could try a seriously dark brown.

If it's almost black anyway, I don't see why you hate it, or how you could, if such a small change will make a difference. But I would ask mom, and either way, remember black is a hard one to fix, and it tends to grab hairs drier ends more than the roots, causing uneven spots and weird fading later on. Lighter roots make it look like your hair is sort of floating on your head, also. I wish i would have just left my hair alone when I was your age....so much can go badly, and not a good point in a girls life to be having extra self image stuff added to life.
