Sun in for dark brown hair?

My hair is really hard to dye. I want to go red but the products never work on me.

I have dark brown hair. Do you think Sun in will work?

Maybe I can use it then try to dye it red when its lighter. Will this damage my hair?

This is making the assumption that you have not dyed your hair dark. If you have, then you will need to strip the haircolor. Dye cannot lighten hair dye, it can only lighten natural haircolor.

If we are talking about naturally dark hair, hon, your hair is not hard to dye. You have dark hair and should be picking up hair dye and developer (peroxide) according.

Kits in the store will NOT work for you. Why? The peroxide strength most commonly sold with kits is "20V". This is strong enough to lighten a few shades and cover gray hair. If you have dark hair, 20V is not enough for you. Go to a Sally Beauty Supply and ask for help. You will need at least 30V developer for whatever color choice you make. The mixing process is the same as using a kit and it's not very difficult at all. I recommend Loreal's HiColor haircolor line for dark hair. I've used that to go from black to hot pink in one shot WITHOUT bleach.

Sun In will have very little effect on your hair. Good luck :)

So does that mean you dyed your hair dark? If so, it's not the end of the world, you can strip the color yourself, it's not terribly difficult. An effective permanent color stripper is ColorFix by Wella, sold at Sally Beauty Supply. It's about 11 bucks. Follow the directions, condtion afterwards and it's gentle enough to dye the same day. :)

it'll probably be day glow orange more than anything...think construction worker vest or traffic cone. if you want red with little damage go with henna. great results little damage and it's not expensive.
