How can i get my hair dark brown?

hi i dyed my hair black a while ago but then decided i wanted dark brown hair. i tried dying a brown over my black but it didnt show up so i dyed it again but you can only see it in very very very bright light. how can i get my hair dark brown??? if i used a really light shade of brown would it turn out dark brown?? also does heena dye work??? what colour would my hair turn out and were can i buy it? thanks!!!!!!!!

What you really need to do is wait a couple weeks before trying anything else. Trying to make your hair lighter after dying it black really wreaks havoc. Wait a couple weeks and the colors will start to fade. Then you will have to gradually start lightening your hair. And I mean gradually. The only other way I can think is to go to a salon and have someone chemically strip it and re-dye. Its harsh though, I'll warn you.

You need to have some bleach put on your hair then dark brown put over it. I wouldn't suggest doing that yourself, go to a hairdresser and have them do it, it might be pricey, but it'll be way less than having it corrected if you get it wrong and it goes green.

I'm going through the same thing as you. My hair is naturally medium brown, and I died it black a couple of times, and now I wish I hadn't. I tried dying my hair brown twice, and it didn't work. Instead, my hair is still black and my roots are a light brown. I look like a Reeces peanut butter cup. Hah.

Anyways, I don't recommend trying to dye over the black. It's not going to work, and it will only damage your hair. I've been having to wash my hair with Pantene Pro-V for two months. It's not as damaged anymore, thankfully.

Honestly, the easiest thing to do is just to let it grow out. That's what I'm trying to do. You could also try some home remedies that 'lighten' your hair. Like using Head and Shoulders. I tried that, and there's not much of a difference. It just made my hair go to black instead of jet black.
