Dark brown hair and thinking about highlights?

Hey guys. I have dark brown hair and I've been really bored with it because I've never done anything like this to my hair before but anyways my mom offered to take me to get highlights and I don't know which color would go well with me. I want a color that looks summery and cute but more natural than unnatural. I don't want it to look cheap either. Anyways I only get ten packets or whatever so keep that in mind.

So yeah I need pictures guys! Not just words! I am kind of nervous and I have to know that I like it before I get it done. So I was thinking like auburn or maybe golden highlights but I can't find any pictures so I don't know.

Anyways, heres a picture of me, so you get the idea about my hair.

sorry the pics a bit blurry but it shows the natural highlights in my hair so I was thinking I should base off my highlighting off that.

Anyways help me!

I would go to a hairdresser even if it costs you a bit more. Then I would say get a few all around and especially one along the front as you have your hair parted to the one side. Go with lighter or copper colour for your first time, not bleach out blond. How exciting for you, good luck!

caramel would look great on you!

Dark brown hair and thinking about highlights?

with your hair color i would go with a honey color. its still natural and playful

Dark brown hair and thinking about highlights?

get higlights that are at least 2 tones lighter thann your natural. they will look very summery and also hott:

You look pretty I think a redish color would look great!

A caramel or honeyed blonde would look really good. But whichever shade that you choose, have the highlights "weaved" into your hair. Don't just take chunks of hair and put color on...that looks fake. Weaving highlights into the hair looks much more natural.

I have dark brown hair too and I get a caramel blonde just at the crown of my hair weaved. Looks very natural.

Good luck!!

Your one of those people that have what I like to call natural highlights which is when some of your hair is lighter than the rest, but back to the question I tkink you should get light and, i mean light not medium, highlights.Hope I helped

Dark brown hair and thinking about highlights?

because your hair is dark, don't go with any sort of blonde colored highlights

it just makes your hair look really fake

try either for a reddish-brown type color like Eva Longoria

or go for a more copper and mahogany color

Hope this helps :D

Carmel or Honey would be good tones on you.

At least 2 tones lighter than your base tone (like the small splash of caramel color at chin level in your pic). With a third shade that is at least 3 tones lighter around your face - to frame and give the appearance of a nice glow to your face.

The stylist you go to should have a swatch book for the color line they use. You can hold the swatches up to your face and decide what tone goes well with your skin color. Remember that the swatches are an approximation of the final color, and your experienced stylist will be able to mix the colors to more closely match the swatch based on your hair.

Pictures in one of the other answers had highlights and low-lights in several tones, you will not get that effect with only 10 foils. In the second picture, I do not think the extreme difference in tones would look good, or be as "natural" as you are looking for.

Finally, have fun! If you don't like it, the highlights can be immediately covered with a demi-permanent color that matches your hair before you even leave the shop, so just think of it as an adventure... after all, nothing is permanent.
