Light brown hair dye on blonde highlighted hair..?

so every time ive done tthis.. the light brown has a GREEN tint to it? WHY! what am i using or doing thats wrong? im going to dye my blonde hair today light brown, but i dont want it dark. how do i dye it a dirty blonde/ light brown iwthout it being green?

I've tried this before, too...I'd imagine that your highlighted hair may have a toner on it and isn't taking the dye properly. It may not take it at all. If it does not have a toner, select an "ash" colour that does not have any gold in it to counter balance the gold in the blonde. Since your hair is highlighted, part of it may take the dye but the highlighted part may still not take.

I know it may be more expensive but I suggest going to a stylist and telling them exactly what you want. You may actually save money in the long run from buying numerous dyes and products to fix it if it doesn't turn out the way you like.

i would advise you to get it done at a salon if it keeps going wrong like this !
